Welcome to the Tri-City Elder Coalition!

The Tri-City Elder Coalition (TCEC) is an affiliation of organizations consisting of over sixty members including service providers, cultural and faith groups, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and businesses -- all with one goal -- to provide programs, services, and opportunities for seniors living in Fremont, Newark, and Union City, CA.

The VISION of the Coalition is to mobilize the diverse Tri-City community to nurture an environment which respects elders and the aging process. The community will value, support and provide opportunitiies for older adults and their caregivers.

The MISSION of the Tri-City Elder Coalition is to develop and support community-based partnerships through education, advocacy and resource sharing to improve the well-bing of seniors residing in the Tri-City area.

Pathways to Positive Aging

In partnership with the City of Fremont Human Services Department, the Tri-City Elder Coaltion is a co-sponsor of the Pathways to Positive Aging project. In November 2004, the Partnership received an 18 month planning grant, worth $150,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to develop a community plan for seniors in the Tri-City area.

In May 2006, the Partnership was one of eight sites nationally selected to receive a prestigious implementation grant award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation worth $750,000 over a 4 year period.

The impact of the project is to create a community where "seniors will understand, choose, and access culturally enriched, affordable services and opportunities that enhance their quality of life."

The Tri-City Elder Coalition Board and members continue to expand its strong community-based organization whereby partner members are implementing many exciting programs and services for Tri-City seniors. If you would like to participate in a project of a lifetime, get involved in a committee! We welcome community members who can offer their expertise and passion to the project.

"Pathways to Positive Aging" is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through its Community Partnerships for Older Adults (CPFOA) initiative ( www.cpfoa.org ). CPFOA seeks to foster community partnerships that are improving long-term care and supportive services systems to meet the current and future needs of older adults.
