Seniors’ Night Out is an annual fundraising event aimed at those seniors who rarely have and opportunity for an evening on the town. Most of us are unaware of how isolating old age may be for a senior. A lack of transportation, money, family or friends can keep a senior homebound with limited opportunity for socializing.
This annual event, now in its 15th year, has come to mean a celebration for our seniors, a time for fun and an opportunity to raise funds for for Pathways to Positive Aging initiatives as well as the PUN (Personal Urgent Need) Fund. This fund is designed to assist older adults in the Tri-City area in obtaining goods or services to improve their health, safety, or quality of life. These are one-time grants in nominal amounts that are given to older adults in desperate need who have no other source of assistance. Each case is individually reviewed by a senior care professional.
The event has garnered many community financial sponsors over its 15 year history. Agencies that serve seniors and local businesses and community leaders annually sponsor seniors representing the diverse multicultural groups in the community. Individuals are paired with an escort for a night of entertainment and dinner. and a chance to make new friends and renew friendships. It is a night to make new friends and to renew friendships for seniors who may be frail in body but robust in spirit.
